Terms of use and limitation of liability

Last updated: October 2026

This is a translation of the Hebrew terms of use. Where they differ, the Hebrew text prevails.

This document sets out the terms for using the SugarIL device and the software that runs on it. Please read it in full before you start using the device.

Using the device constitutes acceptance of these terms. Anyone who does not accept them may not use the device.

1.Definitions

"The device"
a SugarIL display, including its hardware, the software (firmware) that runs on it, its settings page and the guides that come with it.
"The monitoring service"
an external service from which the device receives the glucose data, such as Dexcom, Nightscout, LibreLinkUp or Medtrum.
"The developer"
the developer of SugarIL, who developed the device and the software that runs on it, reachable at [email protected].
"The user"
anyone who uses the device or has it in their possession, including a parent or guardian of a minor for whom the device is used.

2.What the device is

  1. 2.1The device is a display that joins a Wi-Fi network, receives the glucose data from the user's monitoring service and shows it on a screen.
  2. 2.2The device measures nothing by itself, does not connect to a sensor and does not communicate with a pump or any other medical device. It only shows what it receives from the monitoring service.

3.The device is not a medical device

  1. 3.1The device is not a medical device and not an accessory to medical equipment. It is not registered in the Israeli medical devices register (AMAR), has not been approved by the Ministry of Health, the FDA or any other regulatory authority, and does not carry a CE mark.
  2. 3.2The device has not undergone clinical testing or medical validation of any kind.
  3. 3.3The device does not replace the sensor, the pump, the sensor maker's official app, the glucose meter or the instructions of the care team.

4.Do not make treatment decisions based on the device

  1. 4.1The data shown on the device may be wrong, delayed, missing or stuck on an old value, sometimes without any clear sign of it on the screen.
  2. 4.2Do not make any treatment decision based on the device, including insulin dosing, eating, treating hypoglycemia or any other intervention. Every such decision must be based on a glucose meter or the official app, and follow the care team's instructions.

5.The device is not an alert system

  1. 5.1Indications and alerts the device may show or sound, such as a sound, a light or a mark on the screen, are a convenience only. They may fail to work, work late or not be heard, among other things during a power cut, a network fault or while the display is off.
  2. 5.2Do not rely on the device for night alerts, alerts on low or high values or any safety purpose. The user must keep the alerts in the official app and in the monitoring means prescribed to them turned on.

6.Operating limits and dependence on third parties

  1. 6.1The device works only while it is plugged in and connected to a working 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. A power cut, a network outage or a router fault stops the data from updating.
  2. 6.2The data comes from servers of third-party companies. A change, block or end of their interfaces may disable the device completely, at once and without notice. Use of the monitoring service is subject to its operator's terms.
  3. 6.3The developer is not affiliated with Dexcom, Abbott or Medtrum or with the Nightscout project, and does not act on their behalf or with their approval. These names are marks of their owners and are mentioned for identification only.
  4. 6.4The device is based on a commercial development board from a third-party supplier, and the quality of its components may vary from unit to unit.
  5. 6.5The device is meant for use indoors, such as at home or in an office, while plugged in. It is not waterproof and not meant for mobile use.

7.The software

  1. 7.1The software that runs on the device is under continuous development. It may have faults, crashes, restarts and unexpected behaviour.
  2. 7.2The developer may change the software and its features, and does not undertake to provide updates, fixes or support.

8.No warranty

  1. 8.1The device, the software and the guides are provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including as to the accuracy of the data, availability, continuous operation and fitness for a particular purpose.
  2. 8.2The device has no manufacturer's warranty. Any help the developer may offer is given in good will only and is not a commitment.

9.Limitation of liability

  1. 9.1To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer shall not be liable for any damage, direct or indirect, incidental or consequential, including bodily, health, property or financial damage, arising from the use of the device, the inability to use it, reliance on the data it shows, the display of wrong or delayed data or its stopping to work.
  2. 9.2Use of the device is at the user's sole responsibility.

10.Privacy and security

  1. 10.1The login details for the monitoring service are kept in the device's memory only, and are used only to connect to the monitoring service itself. The device sends them only to the monitoring service's servers, over an encrypted connection, and the developer has no access to them.
  2. 10.2The device's settings page can be reached from any device on the same network. It can be protected with a password in the advanced settings (Web interface authentication; not applicable to the SugarIL Mini).
  3. 10.3Before passing the device on to someone else, erase its settings (hold the BOOT button for five seconds). On the SugarIL Mini, delete the monitoring service username (for Nightscout, the address) on the settings page and save: the password is deleted with it; the Wi-Fi network details stay until it joins another network. If the device is lost or stolen, we recommend changing the password of the monitoring service.

11.Use for minors

Where the device is used for a minor, the installation, setup, supervision and full responsibility for its use rest with the parent or guardian.

12.Changes to the terms

The developer may update these terms from time to time. The binding version is the current one, and continuing to use the device after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated version.
